Maxxis Mnion DHF tire is a front specific tire that just happens to work well in the front and rear.
The tread pattern is a perfect all around tire for all conditions other than sticky mud (use the Maxxis Swamp thing for mud).
Use the 42a Super Tacky (Slow Rebound) for race conditions. 
The 60a may not have as much traction as 42a, but they roll faster and will last longer.  Do yourself a favor and ride 60a compound if you ride below 32 degrees fahrenheit.
